Flashing dome light - 99 Astro Van

This morning when driving to work I heard a clicking sound (like a relay) under the dash maybe near the steering column. I didn't pay too much attention to it. On the way home it continue to happen. I also noticed that the dome light was turning on and off with each click. This was probably happening in the morning, I just didn't notice until my twilight drive home. The pattern was totally random, going from very rapid flickering, to solid on, to completely off. I could not find a pattern based on driving, stopping, turns, bumps. I tried to use the dome override and nothing happened, the flickering continued. All the doors were closed tight. At a stoplight, I opened the driver door and depressed and released the driver door switch repeatedly and that had no effect. I rolled the dash dimmer from on to fully dimmed several times and that had no effect. Sorry I don't have more info, I'll to note more detail tomorrow. Any thoughts?

Sounds easy enough.Find what is clicking in the dash and replace it.Really it is saying here I am.

You likely have relay clicking , either gone bad or a short somewhere cause it ,

there is relay for DRL, and door lock relays

Oh - okay. I thought something was triggering the relay and it wasn't the relay itself. Of course the problem was gone (for now) the next morning.

Low battery voltage will do that. Same as like when you have a nearly dead battery
and your starter solenoid clicks but won't make the trip. Relay same. No voltie,
no clickie. Lil voltie, lotta clickie. Nuff voltie, one clickie.
