Battery tray rusted out

Battery tray rusted out

Postby disloyalpick [OP] » March 14th 2020, 2:29am

My battery tray rusted out, so I removed it while I'm reconditioning my battery (surprised the bolts that go from the wheel well didn't snap.) So my question is, how would someone recommend I should strap my battery in while I'm trying to find a replacement tray?(very hard to find something cheap around my area) I have straps but just don't know how to go about securing it. I also need to know how to strap in that box on the side of the battery that has 4 harness connectors on it that the tray was connected to.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Also my van is the 98 awd safari.

I hope that isn't putting pressure on those wires, other than that, if it works temporarily for you then great.

NOT something that I personally would do for any period of time. I would be worried about what happens when you are driving down the road, hit a bump and that strap fails causing a short circuit to the body.

The wires have no tension on them at all. I made sure of that lol. I'm only going to do that until I can find a tray. The junkyard unfortunately didn't have any on their vans. Must be a pretty usual part that gets replaced.

if you don't find one by the end of the month I am in California I may be able to go to pick n pull and see what they have and how much. So if nothing by April 1st or close to that contact me through PM and I will go look. Can't go till then due to no cash flow.
