Supplemental Inflatable Restraint system light bulb

Hello, I just replaced my LIM gasket and was reinstalling the doghouse. This is on a 1998 RWD cargo van. When I first pulled the doghouse before the gasket replacement I noticed a lightbulb hanging down.

Bolted the doghouse in and now trying to figure where this little light plugs into. It’s connected to a yellow plug with the tag “SIR” so I know it has something do with passenger side airbag.

Anyone know where this lightbulb goes in the dash? I can’t find a hole for it to plug into and I hate to leave it just flopping around behind the doghouse console. It’s not the console door light. It’s a short length of wire so it cannot reach only 6-8 inches or so from it’s lead from the yellow plug.

I’m stumped, lol!

The lightbulb and plug are above the doghouse and look like it would plug in somewhere above the radio or thereabouts.

I looked and couldn’t find anywhere the lamp would fit in or around the ashtray.
It’s a mystery. I’ll probably just end up either drilling my own hole in the plastic Console to use it as a light for something, lol or just zip-tie it up out of the way.

Maybe my van is the only one that has this light, lol.

My bad, I took another look using my phone camera on selfie to look up behind the dash. Found it to the right of the radio covered by a piece of tape. The tape was no doubt there to hold the lamp in place.

Great that you found the location.
What was the lamp supposed to illuminate? I could not tell from the picture.

I guess because of its location it will illuminate the ashtray, or in my case coin/whatever tray. Sometimes I’ll stick a $10 pocket or clip type knife in there.

I just didn’t want to leave the lamp swinging around behind the dash where it could create issues. Evidently the last owner couldn’t figure out where it went either, lol.
