Changed Headlights, now they flicker/low power

Postby steve1606 [OP] » April 10th 2009, 12:02am

Hi, I recently bought a 92 safari. Seems like every week it costs me 300$ to repair something so far. The other day I changed the headlights to install brighter ones(planning a 5000km drive). Since ive changed them the new ones almost always have very low power and sometimes flicker. Sometimes 1 works fine, sometimes its the other. I checked the plug that goes into the lights, doesnt seem to be this...any thoughts? im new to these vans and to mechanics in general

I would check the plugs again. Sounds like you have some corrosion in there.

If you wanted but I don't think that is necessary. Just use a small screwdriver or pick and scrape the connectors for the headlight terminals. Even use WD-40.
