Wiring Harness of Windshield Washer

Wiring Harness of Windshield Washer

Postby xtracold [OP] » July 5th 2009, 8:03am

Hey there,

Was fixing the windscreen washers today on my 92 Astro LT. In checking everything for leaks, and making sure the pump was driving I noticed and additional connector next to the pump connector, it was coming off the harness very close to the same point as the connection for the pump, but from what I could see there were no components nearby that would ever be able to use it. Any ideas as to what it might be? I thought that maybe headlight washers were and option back in the day and maybe this lead drove a booster pump?

Cheers for any info...I hate it when I see a dangling unused part of the harness!!

Most likely it is for the second pump motor that is used for the rear wiper when the van has the dutch doors.
Yours has the barn doors so there is no need for the second pump, but GM put the wiring there anyway.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe I should use it to get some decent pressure to each wiper blade as at present it is pretty lame. Although it could also just be the old pump is on it's last legs.
