2nd Ignition ?

Postby webcat [OP] » October 18th 2009, 5:30pm

Why is there a 2nd ignition circuit ?
I was thinking the 2nd ignition circuit powers the same thing as the main ignition circuit but is just there in case the first ignition circuit fails , am i right?

I really doubt that it is a redundant circuit. That usually is only done on aircraft. Prolly just another system needed to start the truck and GM decided to split the two different circuits.

Could it be to power more circuits than one wire can supply?

the two wires they are showing(one pink, and one white) sounds like the same color wires that go to the ignition coil. and normally you can pick up tach signal from the white wire if i remember correctly.
