replacing starter

Hi

Any pointers replaceing the starter motor on a 1995 astro? (do's and don'ts) from under the van or from the doghouse..???

The starter is located on the lower right side of the engine, unless you are Mr.Fantastic or Plastic Man there is no way to replace it from the dog house.

It's fairly easy to remove/replace. IIRC, 2/3 nuts to disconnect the wiring and 2 bolts holding it in place.

Mr.Vantastic says disconnecting the battery first when working on ANYTHING ELECTRICAL is allways smart!

If you don't like sitting under a jacked up vehicle you can actually do it laying on your back without jacking the vehicle up. :D

I had a problem doing the starter in a parking lot. Since it wasn't jacked up, I couldn't see to reattach the wires. almost had to jack it up just to be able to focus. That was the point at which I bought my first pair of "cheater" glasses! I thought I wasn't old enough for that yet. :crying:
