They are generally 85, 95 or 105 amp alternators OEM.

WATTS is simply AMPS x VOLTS

BUT - They only "put out" amps, regardless of speed, as the LOAD requires it. ie, if you have a 1 AMP load (some light bulb for exmple) the alternator will only put out 1 AMP, regardless of RPMs.

There are a lot of LOADS in your vehicle. Ignition, battery (charging), accessories, lights, A/C, electric banana straightener etc. Whatever the current AMP draw is at any time (whichever loads are ON and drawing power) that's what your alternator is (should be) putting out.

Somewhere under 1000. I think 650 on the low end. That with engine warm, warm (hot) outside temp.

i trying to know how much wattage and amperage the safari give me at idle position

you see, i have under the seat 3000 watt converter 12 volts dc to 220-230 ac
i am home a/c technician i have so much 220-230 tools that i want to use it
outside, there is places i reach them and there is no electricity all the time
(also i have in my van 95 amp bosch battery)

A 3000 watt inverter wil only supply ~10A at 230VAC, even at best RPMs. Using a huge V6 engine to produce only 3000W seems horribly inefficient, even if it works.

If it were me, I'd feel better about a standalone gas/diesel powered generator. Much higher wattage, much less fuel consumption, and you can move it to where you need it to power your tools.

o.k you right!

but this alternators in the attached post give me 200 amper at idle!!! and i dont talk on the 300 amper at 2,500 rpms!!!,they says that i can weld dirctley with this alternators!!!
i know that i can take a generator to my work but for my work it does not help me,
i search for information on my alternator to know what he can give me

Re: OEM alternator watts&amperes

That alternator may give you 200rms at idle, when cold, but will not when it warms up. The hotter an alternator gets, usually, the lower the amperage output is.
The "stock" alternator, at idle, only puts out around 40-60amps IF it is called upon to do that. It will not put out more, at idle, and the equipment you're running will have to rely on battery power until the alternator can give it more power, by you raising the rpms.

yes, 3,000rpms faster on the alternator than the engine sounds about right.

Lumpy is correct, you should look into a gas/diesel powered generator for your needs. However, that's not saying what you want can't be done.

Any alternator can be used as a welder. :)

Just like with a high powered car audio system, you need power in to get power out. This, for us stereo enthusiasts, causes us to look at multiple alternators, batteries, and wiring.

3000 watt generator. Ok let's see.

60amps (max your stock alt will do at idle) times 12volts =720watts
105amps (max output your alt will do at aprox 1500-2k rpm) times 12volts = 1260watts

BUT there is a little problem here. When the van is running, you should be around 14.2 to 14.5 volts, so....

60amps times 14volt (rounding it down since it fluctuates a bit) = 840watts
105amps times 14volts = 1470watts

O.k. with that, you still need 530amps

O.k. now going with that DC alternator. One thing you are going to realize is, the higher the idle output, the lower your MAX output, and vice versa, the higher your MAX output, the lower your idle output.

200amps (idle) times 14volts = 2800watts
300amps (at 1,500 to 2k rpm) times 14volts = 4200watts.

Looks like the problem is solved, correct? Want to know the bad thing here? If you run that alternator at idle (or any alternator for that matter) under constant load, all the time, you will burn it out very quick. To help with that, you'll need batteries to take some of the edge off the alternator (give it a break, so to say). I'm not going to go into all that right now. lol

Just to give you an idea. For 4kw on my stereo system, I had 14 golf cart batteries wired to 16volt, with a variable voltage alternator set to 16volts. That alternator was 300amps. It substained it, but I really needed more input to get it's full output potential.

thanksssss!!!
now i am confused
ok,i need to drill 10 holes in concrete,1 hole take about 40 minutes,my driller max consumption/output is 2400 watts!
that alternator in the picture can take it?, or he dies???
what do you think?
thanks again!

Get a generator.

Even if it does do it, it will only be once. And then you might not make it home.

Get a generator and be done with it.

Buy a gen set.

Doing this off your van is going to cost more in R&D than a gen set does. Also, it has the potential to fry your van. ( no gfi's built in = bad day)

I understand how awesome it would be to plug into your van and work away, I've thought of doing the same thing. (Professional carpenter).

It's just not cost effective, my tiny gen set does the job. ( just don't use a tool while the compressor is running)

You'll spend 10x as much in the long run perfecting a 4.3 generator.

okkkkk
all from curiosity and necessary
the fact that i have 190 horsepower and 255 pound of torque and i cant use it,it's sucks :?
so i try to figure how can i use the HUGE engine potential in 220-230 ac volt network?
thats all, with today technologies i cannot? so what else?
THERE MUST BE A WAY
i need every space and load capability in my safari,i am allways thinking on efficiency, customers criticizing me each visit ,
that do not take me to the sky i know! but it is look more professional,it is help me a lot, more comfort, and more...

sorry on my poor language!
sorry if bother anyone!
thanks god that i have google translate

Dual altenators? Separate battery bank?

Engines that produce heavy duty power generally power off of the crank, not a serpentine belt. Take your tensioner and pull it to the tightest setting. I bet you could still move all the accessories.

Plus....heat is an issue. You would need to set your electric fan to push.
How many sensors, fuses or computers does a Bw4472 need? Zero.
