Door Lock Module and FOB

Door Lock Module and FOB

Postby catbones [OP] » May 18th 2014, 11:52pm

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone here with a base model of AWD and 2004 Astro has installed an aftermarket door lock module with key fob. I'm looking for some help and suggestions on a module suggestion that I should get which will work. I don't have any module in mine right now, not even the factory as this van never came with.

Re: Door Lock Module and FOB

If you want to get by cheap, dirty, and simple, my Astro also came with electric locks but no key fob capability. I bought a full blown Razor remote starter kit with 2 key fobs on Ebay for about $35. I don't need remote start and that is a lot of work and wiring. I only wired it for door lock/unlock. I simply opened the passenger door cover panel. I spliced wires to a 4 conductor cable to pick up 12 volts, ground, door lock, and door unlock. I only needed 4 feet of cable and brought it into the van through the factory wireway to the door. I wired the remote control and brought the door lock and unlock out to 2 icecube relays for longer contact life. I simply stuffed the remote starter module and the 2 relays behind the passenger side right foot kick panel. Barely a 2 hour job.

It has worked great for 4 years now.
