oil gauge wiring question

oil gauge wiring question

Postby $uperJoe [OP] » February 16th 2010, 3:18am

how can i find out if my gauges are positive trigger or neg trigger? the safari is having the wiring done tonight and gauge function is important to me. i am using the sending unit from the 96 5.7 sfi and the factory gauge from the 95 safari. when the gauge is all hooked up and key is energized the oil pressure maxes out before any pressure is there. once started stays pegged. only thing i can think is maybe the dash gauge is neg signal and the other one is pos signal. any thoughts. also i will post the gauge diagrams if anyone needs them for reference

note the oil is new and i am not letting it run more than one min at a time as i have no coolant in the system or even the hoses hooked up yet
Don't explain it poorly 5 times. Take the 15 seconds to go out and take a picture of it!!

I dont know if this will help but i once used a 1995 complete TBI system including 1995 sending unit with a 1996 guage and it did'nt work , i then changed to a 1996 sending unit and the guage started working!
