Key fob re-learn

Key fob re-learn

Postby robertb [OP] » December 10th 2014, 10:25pm

Hello -

I replaced the battery in the key fob transmitter and now it doesn't work. What is the "re-learn" procedure?

Thanks!

EDIT - I think I found it here:

Re: Key fob re-learn

Postby Astro Hole » December 27th 2014, 8:40am

That is the same procedure that I was given when I bought my replacement FOB's. The only thing missing in the link is at the end of the first FOB, you have 20 seconds to designate a second FOB. When the doors lock and unlock for the first one, you have 20 seconds to press both buttons on the second FOB.

Ill just ask here rather than starting a new thread, where would you guys go to pick up a new fob?
I got my 05 and the previous owner didn't give me a fob.
I want to get the right one, but there seems to be a couple online. I emailed one seller who tole me there were 2 different types and they were not interchangeable but he wasnt any help on how to identify what one i needed.

if I am understanding this correctly the RKE system is already installed from the factory, and I just need to get the correct fob and program it?

so dumb question,
in default configuration:
the unlock is for the front doors only? or slider as well?
and the Rear X2 is for the rear door? or rear/ slider?
and I assume lock will lock ALL doors?
are there any double press functions?
thanks

To protect you from someone opening your passenger or sliding door and getting in when you're alone.

Oops, sorry; thought you were asking about why you have to press unlock twice. My fobs don't have the rear 2x button.

I think it's for the dutch door. Press 2x to pop the hatch. At least, that's how it works on my Jeep. So you don't accidently open the hatch, to hit it twice, it generally had to be on purpose.
