Follow the switch lead to the fuse box to make sure that it didn't become frayed or broken at the connector.

Check that all wires in tact. I noticed that the trailer hitch wiring was a little
messed up. I rehooked up the ground and the white wire back up. Is there any wiring diagrams so I could trace all the wires?

Here's a schematic. It's probably better to start with checking that your turn signals and parking lights work. If your turn signals work then the wiring and bulbs are OK because the brakes use the same wires. (yellow-left turn...green-right turn...both brakes...brown-parking) I'm trying to keep it simple here because this is hard for me to explain.
