When did the Body Control Module start being used on Astro and Safari ?

Thank you , I was thinking 2000 was the first year , then I came across a webpage where someone said it was behind the radio on a 97 , but the parts store had no listing for one in 97 .

Nope, started in 2000.
I have a 97 cargo & a 99 pass. and neither has a BCM, but my 2000 pass. does.
To the left of the radio and above.

This "Body Control Module" wouldn't be the device that stores the "last-minute-before-the-crash" data for the insurance companies, would it?

The Air bag module does that. .
