Dash lights and console lights quit!

Dash lights and console lights quit!

Postby Bigblaine301 [OP] » November 23rd 2010, 7:42am

Hello all, my most recent issue. I had a basketball pole and hoop go through windshield! I had it replaced and shortly after i lost my dash illumination and pretty much all my little lights behind the switches. Weird thing is my overhead display flickers pretty bad, but it still comes on with headlights. Overhead display was pretty noticeable around bumps. The dash lights never recovered. Does anyone know about this issue? Fuses are fine. I am at a loss. Also unrelated recently my Check engine light comes on with code for thermostat not reading operating temperature. Maybe related with all this? Dont know. Please advise my friends. :banghead:

In your model year there is a sensor that automatically turns on the lights.
It is located at the passenger side of the center defrost grille.
Check to see if it is damaged, or connections are loose.
It controls the lighting for the van when it gets dark.

A quick test would be to turn your lights all the way on and see if the problem stops.

Otherwise, you've got some good troubleshooting to do..............................

When my dash light did that it turned out to be the plug in where instrument panel plugs into the dash tweaked the contacts a little and problem went away.was just loose plugs.Dont have idea if cieling console runs through it. only takes ten minutes to take out and check.Just an idea. the basketball goal probably rattled it pretty good.
