I had one of the older brothers, it came with vista and the screen was hard to see outside. I bought it at wal mart for 300 bucks, I ended up selling on craigslist for 350$ like a month after I bought it. Vista was absolutely frustrating. I have heard windows 7 is nice.

Works great, I think the 3 GB of RAM is a big help to that. I have W7 in another of the computers but only 512Mb RAM, and it's very slow.
I am not used to the finger pad, so I ordered a mouse too.

Memory is the single easiest thing you can do to increase the performance of your PC , price varies depending on what type and speed you get , and where you buy it.

http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory ... top-Memory

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... -Spot%2010

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/powerSear ... yCode=1108

The fastest memory config is to run in dual channel , which is having 2 sticks that are identical running in pairs of 2 channel slots , which is common these days , Older pc's did not use
dual channel ,even though they had multiple memory slots;, dual channel is faster which is why it can be purchased in pairs of 2 sticks .

When adding in new memory , find out what the fastest speed memory your motherboard/chipset can support and use it.
Many pc's can run different speeds of memory , and using all the same speed is the best way to do it, if you use a combination of memory that uses different speeds the pc will automatically run at the speed of the slowest memory stick installed as it will be the bottleneck ,and sometimes can cause conflicts and errors.
:)

Munken, can you take a pic? I'd be interested in seeing what the keyboard looks like. Having worked for a global IT company in the past, I got to see laptops from all over the world that had various weird looking connectors as well as a different keyboard arrangements. I'd be interested in seeing the keyboard layout from a Thailand PC.

Sure, but for now you get a Swedish keyboard layout. I will go to Thailand June 1, then I can take a pic of a Thai keyboard.
We have Å, Ä and Ö here in Sweden.

Click here to hear their pronunciation, (Then click on the speaker at the right side).

Å

Ä

Ö

Here you can hear the pronunciation of my name :D

Just installed a wireless router to use with the lap top, and did a speed test.

It's almost 30Mbps less download without cable.

Good speeds munken, I have cable but I'm at the end of a line. Couple years ago comcast offered business class for less than what my service was going up to, $99 vs $139 at the end of my contract. Business class was double my speed so I said great, let's do it. This is what I get.

Image

Same as residential around town but on this street it's all you get. I can hijack wireless from a house behind me and get speeds equal to this.

Just thought I'd mention that Sweden has been known to have the fastest download speeds available for a long time , few places have anywhere near the speeds available as Sweden does ,

wireless 802.11g has been rated @54 Mb/s , if you getting 66 on a G rated connection that be kickin a^^

wireless 802.11N is rated up to 300Mb/s and dual channel may be available

It's a TP-LINK TL-WR841N 11n Wireless Router 300Mbps Built-in 4-port Switch. I'm pleased, can watch a movie on youtube without any problem. And it was cheap, only $50. :D It feels a bit difficult to scratch with my finger on the pad, easy to open things by mistake. So I added a Logitech Mouse M100.
