I have a hunch my van was wreaked before i bought it

So i figured this out today while driving around. i think my safari may have been in a wreak and then repaired and sold. Got a few reasons to suspect this.
the drivers side door doesnt quite line up and has to be slammed hard to shut properly.
when i got it, it had a new transmission and transfer box.
the doors havve safari XT AWD emblems but the dash says safari SLT
numerous wiring problems that have no real reason to exist.

what do you guys think? what are some ways to figure out if a safari has been in a crash?

I think you have reason the suspect it has been in a wreck. CarFax is a sellers tool, not a buyers. One still has to be on their toes. My Astro "El Camino" was a total wreck but as I bought it from a private party, CarFax thinks it is pristine.

The doors would be the biggest giveaway unless they were changing out some rusty panels. Anyway, given your sig; who cares? You're obviously driving it to the ground so it may as well be repaired car. Think of it as recycling. I drive a 2005 Volvo that was "totaled" in a nasty front end collision. It's been repaired and is a beautiful car.

The door could be worn hinge pins and bushings as well as a broken weld on one of the hinge's.

^ this. And a replaced transmission and transfer case doesn't indicate a wreck, it indicates poor maintenance or bad driving (or both).

Besides, what's wrong with driving a vehicle that was previously wrecked?

a write off isn'that clean cut. there are provisions for insurance. a special inspection for starters. but a double stretched limo is kind of the same thing, both cars are cut in half, both cars are sold with both parties knowing, both cars passed the "special inspections and other requirements".

CarFax is only as good as the peple reporting to it. Most accidents never get reported or end up on the wrong vin #. I say change the oil and see how long she lasts.
