No more van

Postby Shad0wXCalibur [OP] » August 28th 2013, 5:38am

Hey guys. I really enjoyed this forum and my van but that joy has worn off... the 2000 Safari is gone. :( It sucks since I did all these things to it thinking I was going to keep it til it quit but it wasn't a practical vehicle for me at all anymore. While I can fix most things with no problem, the general issues with owning a GM-made van and being stuck in an apartment where it's very hard to work on it, since I'm not supposed to, has worn on me. I didn't feel like spending the money and messing with it anymore. This alone didn't push me to sell it but also the poor gas mileage (compared to a car), the rough ride, not so good power to weight ratio, and interior that rattled and squeaked (partly because of rough ride), so-so build quality, and a couple of other things. It simply did not make a good road trip vehicle or daily driver for me. I'm not trying to totally bash it here. I've just gotten picky about vehicles. I'd still tell someone they're good vans. I wish GM would have redesigned them instead of totally dropping them.

Anyways...

The replacement was a low-mileage 2012 Suzuki SX4. Got it for a good price and it's a real solid car. Quiet and smooth for a compact. I tried to sell the van privately but no one in my area is looking for these vans apparently. Go figure. I was offered a decent amount for trade-in so I went that route. I miss the van. I had a few good times in it. Honestly, I'd still like to have a 1st gen some time in the future. I liked the older ones for some reason. Not too easy to find one in good shape around here though....
