my oil dipstick came out

Postby timshwah [OP] » September 14th 2013, 9:44pm

When I was changing my alternator on my 92 Astro EXT RWD 4.3L the oil dipstick tube came out. it popped out easily, I saw a post for a 2000 that said there's two halves to the tube I don't know if mine is the same. how do I get it back in where would I find the bottom half or if the whole thing came out where does it go. its the one that bolts to the alternator mount.

Best shot I got of where they join. Comes up right there between the block and exhaust manifold. The little tab is where the bottom half bolts to the block. It joins right above that.

When you hold the tube in its' rightful place, it should be evident as to where to slide the end of the tube

into the block. Usually I have had no trouble inserting the tube into its' hole, which is probably why

it came out fairly easy.
