Ski boots or a nice pair of construction boots. They look like dress shoes before they get trashed. Nice velour leather. Insulated to 20 below or some such non-sense.

All I can suggest is to get a pair of LL Bean hunting boot. I have a pair for when it is cold and snowy outside.

Used them just yesterday while I was out snowblowing (get your mind out of the gutter) the driveway for us,

the kids' and half dozen of our neighbors. My feet were soaked with sweat when I came in, but were still

fairly comfy. I also recommend a boot drier to keep the boots dry between uses, it really does help for the

small investment necessary. Basically: "You can pay me now, or pay me later."

Slippers.

If I'm not getting paid I don't go out.

All kidding aside, I work outdoors, unless I'm in inches of snow or in the wet, sneakers / 2 pair of socks.
I'll wear boots to shovel, I have over the ankle leather work boots and a pair of snow or snowmobile boots. The kind with a rubber foot and leather ankles. Neither of these will I wear all day as they are heavy appendages, after a few hours my feet start dragging.
When the days begin to stay cold, in my mind anything below freezing, I'll wear my Carhart bib overalls.

Goretex or the like.
I've been wearing Hitec Altitude 4's for a lot of years on the job site year round. Light weight for a boot, comfortable, water proof and breathable, a good all around boot for around $100. A quality pair of winter boot sock's do pretty well when the temp drops below freezing.
Sorel makes real good winter boots, more of what I'd call a snowmobiling boot.

If you are on a budget and don't mind shopping at Wally World, or if you can find them elsewhere, I use the Herman Survivor or Survivor II. They also have some Brahma boots that are good. They work well over here in Idaho

I don't recommend this but I wear loafers and no sox,,, but then it's because I can't reach my feet because of too much fun on my body when I was young. As you can imagine, I try to not be outside much in this weather. ( Janesville, Wi. )
