ok i was on here back in 04 and o5 when they had the other forums but i sold my van and now i have an opportunity to buy a 99 safari awd with 127000 on it and here is what it has done to it
GMC Safari AWD 8 passenger Minivan (identical to Chevy Astro). Clean, runs great, no problems with the vehicle. Air conditioner works well. Class III hitch integrated with the rear bumper mounts, clip-on side mirrors for towing, inflatable rear air shocks (20-150 psi) to add some 1200 lbs carrying capacity, trip computer with MPG/temperature/compass.
Both rear seats are removable (4x6 sheet lays flat on the floor and the doors close).
I was the second owner (bought in 2003 with 100,000 mi).
New equipment installed in 2005-2008:
- new truck tires in 2004 (Bridgestone Dueler H/T, now with 27,000 miles, about 75% thread left).
- Transmission, rear differential, transfer box fluids replaced in 2004.
- radiator and fan thermo-unit.
- alternator and starter.
- power steering pump.
- belt tensioner pulley.
- water pump and hoses.
- spark plugs and wires (2006).
- GM-rebuild steering box plus new pitman arm linkage with both new ball joints - 2007.
- both front hub assemblies (including bearing and ABS index wheel) - 2008.
- both from brake calipers and rotors, new pads - 2008.
- rear brakes rebuilt with GM kit (pads, springs, retainers).
- Oil filters have always been heavy duty either K&N or Mobile 1 (synthetic filtering media); 10w30 was used since 2004 year-round.
