Sure, but I also notice I can get both of my big 'ol feet in the footwell on my '97.....something I can barely manage on an earlier model. I have to admit, getting the ex manifolds back on was a nightmare, though. I guess they (GM) were trying to find a happy medium.

I always sit with my left foot back towards the seat not even in the little restricted area with the pedals. Besides its not like I drive stick or live in Chicago........who needs both feet by the pedals?

Yes, the newer doghouse is smaller but somehow harder to get out. I noticed that when I changed my neighbors engine in his 96. But really, I don't understand the complaint with no foot room in the first gens. I were 13 W's and I drive two-footed, no complaints about the space being tight here.

Arent those pictures an Express van?

And the passenger side foot room was alot tighter on the biggest doghouse. From what I remember anyhow, but they also moved the heater box too to make room on the newer models.

Express doghouse design is the same as the late model Astros ,the engines have the same exact fit too because the only differance is the astros engine is like a V8 with the 2 front cylinders cut off to make it a V6

I should have been a bit clearer, I meant late model Express van. I was in my fathers 2006 Express today, but it doesnt look the same. Must be 2003 and lower i guess?

Funny thing,
when i first looked at those pix I thought, "those arent the same as the doghouse in either of my astros"
The old one has way more bellhousing showing than my old stro. and the new one looks a lot more squared off at the corners.
Plus 96 astro didnt have finned style rockers covers and a TBI, normally.
I thought there was something weird there, and they arent even astros turns out, ha ha.
