Now that i fixed the leak from the 3rd. brake light

Postby Jasen [OP] » November 20th 2009, 6:07am

So I'm sitting in my rig today having lunch, it's pouring down rain and the next thing I know is my butt is getting wet.
Water is dripping from the steering wheel
Then I see it, it came from above and landed on the steering wheel.
I quickly got out my builders calculator and entered vector, velocity, air pressure, ambient moisture with a +/- of .005743861264865390238476676%

My cargo is an ex county service vehicle and had an antenna on the roof which they put a rubber plug in the hole when they pulled the radio.
Maybe if I'm lucky, but I've probably got a leaky windshield

Now if I can just get a couple days and day light on the same day without rain I can clean up the rubber trim and 'cone it.

i need to cone my windshield also. I keep getting dripped on when it rains hard. i may look at it today while i am out there figuring out all the wires for my alarm and remote start.

my 2000 safari windshield leaks too. It ends up leaking on to the headlight switch and then on to the floor. It's annoying. Since I don't know where the leak is exactly... silicone is kind of a waste of time. My last car (subaru) leaked and I slathered the silicone on all around the windshield and it still leaked! i could not plug the leak even with tons of silicone.

I'd rather keep a towel on the floor than have my safari windshield caked with messy silicone.

My plan is to clean under the rubber trim, then tape it off and 'cone under the trim. Let it skin over then remove the tape. Should make for a clean 'cone job.

If that fails, I can toss a rock and the windshield and put it on my Ins.
