A "Good" mechanic story

Well, I don't know if everyone would consider Midas to be a "mechanic". I do..they seem to be good in this town with exhaust. A bout 4 years ago they replaced everything back from the manifold on my 92 accord for about $800. Honda, in it's genius, built a tube within a tube that runs under the car vs using a standard muffler. Very quiet, small..and expensive to replace. Anyway...

Fast forward 4 years..and I need those bolts taken out of the exhaust in order to mount it back up to Thing2. Looking at the bolts, I figured there was a need for a torch (real one, not a prone jobby) and some other fun stuff. Instead of dicking with it for hours, I called the Midas shopped and asked if they wanted the piece work. They happily said yes and I dropped it off. The head guy was super cool, listened to what I needed and off to work I went. When I called a few hours later, here is how it went:

"How much do I owe you?"

"Um, I thought we were doing it for free".

"Ok, I will pick it up tomorrow".

So I go down there today and pick it up. Sure enough, free. I asked them why. He said "Maybe when you need some exhaust work done, you will think of us".

Huh. Wow. This wasn't the same Midas I met 4 years ago.

Anyway, this is the Midas on Parker Rd in Parker.

I called a few muffler shops today. They wanted to charge me a 100 bucks a hour to expand the end of a pipe. I though you got to be kidding me. It is cheaper to buy the tool.
