GM Parts East is now Chevy Parts Prime?!

Postby Isaac Zackary [OP] » May 26th 2016, 6:50am

Since my recent purchase of an Astro and my subsequent enrollment to this forum website I soon discovered GM Parts East. The only thing I had ordered from then was a radiator support since mine was bent up from the previous owner doing some deer hunting with the van.

Well today, less than a week later, not only did my radiator support arrive at my house, but when I tried to get back on to http://www.gmpartseast.com/ to try to find some other parts it automatically redirected me to http://www.chevypartsprime.com/.

Anyhow, it looks like they have all the same Astro/Safari parts that GM Parts East had, only without the lovely diagrams. :(
If it has 8 seats and gets up to 25mpg, then that's like 8 people paired up on mopeds that get 100mpg each, only much faster and warmer.
Mmm... Interesting... :geek:

It's the second time I have seen this happen. I first saw it happen on gmpartsgiant.com

Are there any other sites with those nice diagrams? I hate how these sites are set up. You can't tell the size relation of the parts. The sliding door is now the same size as a screw. Also many don't even have a picture.

Hey! I found this site! It has diagrams of parts.

http://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/

If I get time I'd like to go through the whole site and copy any and all parts diagrams for my 2001 Chevy Astro, and then go back through and right down all the part numbers.

Yeah, I got the email from them saying they had changed the name.

Haven't looked on the site though.

EDIT: just looked. Not only are the diagrams gone, but the parts pictures are now crude drawings instead of actual pics. WTF?

Does anyone know where all these fools source those diagrams from? Do they have to be dealers or subscribe to some service or..?

I had a similar issue with Toyota parts on these random websites. Fortunately I copied everything I needed beforehand.

That's what I'm doing with possibly the last website with parts diagrams of my Astro. I guess I'll end up with my own parts catalog. Then I'll just go down to the dealer if I need anything.

There's no sense in trying to decipher what parts these random sites are trying to sell. If I'm going to order something that can cost hundreds of dollars in shipping alone I need to know what I'm ordering. Not some block image entitled "Brace (includes 2-4, 9)"
