ether used to start a car... goes boom

Postby cowboydan [OP] » April 22nd 2011, 3:39am

i would have posted pics but i can't.

there is a guy just down the street that owns a grand am. he had been working on this car for months. now it's in ashes. because of ether starting... i have heard of lot's of guys using this stuff and gotta say, after seeing his car tonight, i would think twice about using such a volatile chemical on your car. the fire dep is just finishing up and hauling the wreck away.

for future reff... if your engine won't start by it's designed method, then you need work done, not ether. too bad no pics allowed. i have tried several ways in the last few days to upload pics, and nothing works.... sorry

Well, if the timing ain't right, you can either singe yer eyebrows, or blow the danged muffler right off the truck. Been there, done that, still breathing... Not a boast, just a reality check ! We learn from age and experience. (hopefully)

There is a difference between "a shot of ether" and squirting half a can down the intake until it pools like a time bomb waiting to be lit.

I've done "shots of ether" thousands of times to get many, many different vehicles started... or to help analyze the problem. DON'T LET IT POOL into a liquid!

Dan,

you're more familiar with ether than you think. It is the same stuff that gives your beer a kick. It's the molecule in ethanol that go to the brain for the "high" feeling.

lol. you might think that, but i don't like to drink. i can count on one hand how many beer i have had in the last few years. and even then i'm throwing half away...lol. that may explain it. i don't like beer because i don't like ether. my favorite time of day is 4:20. it just so happens it occures 2 times a day.

That is correct, but only if the clock actually is running. I have a clock in my, er, "shop" that tells me it is 6:34 every time and any time I look at it.

Longyard summed it up the same way I would. It is a tool, not a solution to a problem. Sorry to read about the Grand Am, sucks to be that guy.

I know what you.re sayin'. It's legal where you live but just a time of day here. Can't wait until this state gets it. But Utah, may be a long wait. :naughty: LOL

it's illegal to have a broken watch here. only those who can't see are allowed to posess broken watches... makes sence to me.
