Just wanted to confirm that the VXdiag VCX Nano does in fact work for our vans. Just make sure to get the Powerd for GM/Opel GDS2 version. It even works in a virtual machine, I bought the WIFI version and highly recommend it, no cables to drape through the window/door.

For under ~$100 you can get your automated ABS bleed, tire size adjustments, and Crankshaft Position Sensor relearn on!
And basically everything else that the Tech2 can do, only faster and easier! Tech2 on a laptop screen with mouse controls, yes thank you very much.

I had the HP tuners thing in my other hard drive before it died. I used the this laptop for my van when I was messing with it. I have a usb/obd1 wire. Same thing as the torque program. Gauges on the screen monitoring everything while you drive so you can see what it going on. I need to put that back in this computer and get it working again. Just to have it.

Gauges are so much easier to read diving than little numbers on a screen. I had this with a different choice of side gauges. Just use a different emulator they call it. I had mileage and spark advance instead of the maf sensor and IAT.

For ALDL stuff:
If you have an android device(tablet/phone) you can check out https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .aldldroid which is kinda pricey for what it is, but works well.

I use it with http://www.reddevilriver.com/aldl.html and a usb adapter for my tablet. Should be able to use http://www.reddevilriver.com/ALDL_Bluetooth.html as well.

Interesting,and thanks for info,Will.I would have no need for a reprogrammer,but the VXDIAG looks interesting for the money.Appears they have been around for quite a while,and have a good reputation.Have not found one under 100 bucks,though.Also see it takes windows 7 professional or better,but yet,has to be 32 bit.Interesting.

With our stuff, it can all run on XP, that is what I'm doing currently. Certain aspects can require windows 7, just not for tech2win and TIS for our vans.

OK,perhaps i did not get the whole picture of this thread,even though I glanced back through it.the VXDIAG required the PC standards,listed on their website.Looks like a nice setup,for the money.I am not a PC programming person,just a mechanic.If I purchased a product like this,for that much money,i would want to be ale to use all of its potential,for neighbors and friends.Sorry for being so computer ignorant.

Well it kinda went off in two different directions.

1. Modifications that can't be done with the Tech2, using aftermarket tuning solutions like JET DST, efilive, HPtuners
2. Using the VXdiag device as an adapter to run the Tech2Win emulation software that allows you to do pretty much everything that the Tech2 hardware does on the OBD2 systems. Aka not your 94.

Thanks to Will's generosity and helpfulness, my speedometer works again!

I threw on 245/75/16 tires after doing my lift. I have a TECH2 and tried to reset the tire size with that device, and it did not work at all. Tried it with another scanner from CopperFireMist, and it didn't work either.

A re-tune from Will got it working! It's actually weird looking at the speedometer now... 60 means 60!

It works with LOW SPEED on C1-P42 and HIGH SPEED on C2-P33.

This ended up working out well, there was a brief PWM issue on the high speed side until the A/C Auto re-circulation option was disabled.

Hey Will, if I wanted my PCM reprogrammed to control my e-fan and increase my idle, is there any hardware that I would need to purchase aside from the relays for the e-fan? I'm starting to get tired of having to open my hood twice per drive to turn the fan on and off.

Has anyone figured out how to get the Tech2Win to fully communicate with a np236 TCCM once it's installed in one of our vans? I figured out how to get it to read the live data but once I go to special functions ATC output controls it tells me I've selected the wrong vehicle.

Something to try--- Back when I was still wrenching,I used to use the dealer GM tech 2, on other vehicles,like fords and dodges.What I would do is program in a GM vehicle, then a screen would come up and say the vin number is wrong, and allow me to bypass the warning and use the scanner.But sometimes I might not get all the info. Perhaps this might work?

This has been an item of interest for me, but I am now lost about exactly what device(s) is needed and what computer system is required to run it. The actual link ( from several years ago) no longer works to bring up a specific item, but many similar which look similar and specify Opel/Saab application among the GM listings ($88 - $110) . I suspect that is the same item. Can anyone confirm that?

Initially I am mainly interested in correcting the ODO/Speedometer function. My speedometer reads about 10% to 15% high, and would like to to be a bit more accurate. I have never watched to checked the ODO readings for accuracy, but I suspect that is of by similar amounts.

So there might be a few people that need or want to have some changes done to their PCMs and it may not be worth it to invest in the hardware/software to do minor changes and such.

So I'm going to start doing this for the 96 and up PCMs, for now I am going to offer up the ability for you to make the following changes:
Modify EGR/AIR/EVAP/VATS settings
Change VIN number
Adjust for different sized injectors(for marine or 2114 intake swap).
Adjust for tire size/gear ratio changes.
Enable electric fan control on models that support it(97 and up?)


Eventually, this list will expand, to include tuning adjustments, depending on what you guys want/need to have done.

are you still up for doing PCM changes ?
i'm in no hurry at all but am looking in the future to using a "411" PCM in my '99 astro, to run a marine intake & 2-speed e-fans.
i got a 2002 411 PCM from a junkyard safari.
the beginner's plan will be to see if i can get a good E-test with my van stock except for the 02 PCM when i ride the rollers at my next emissions test here in denver which is due in september 2021.
the first thing i'm doing is studying a spare '99 pcm to see if i can make a reliable jumper harness out of it's male connector's, and the 411 PCM female harness connector's, so i don't have to re-pin my van harness female connector's twice if my experiment isn't viable due to local regs.

Most likely as long as the VIN number matches when they connect the emissions testing machine they won't look any closer at it. I would definitely do the PCM change first, before messing with the intake/injectors.

i think i missed the "boat" on complete new marine intake set-ups with the 3-bolt flange, cable actuated throttle body's.
but i can find complete marine intake set-ups with the 4-bolt flange, drive by wire throttle body's for vortec v6 and v8 engines.
i don't mind using a 3-bolt adapter plate on a 4-bolt manifold, it might help with clearance for the cruise control cable attachment, which from what i've read so far is tight against the fuel rail.
my homework just arrived by media mail :
