What is this?

What is this?

Postby Star Stuff [OP] » June 16th 2020, 2:16am

I'm presently looking at a 2001 Safari to buy, and had the owner snap a few underside photos for me, as it's in another province.

Who can tell me what this is (arrow); it looks like something has broken off there.

Also, is that skid-plate factory?

Thanks

Skid plate is factory but I don't know if was "standard" or an option but both of mine vehicles had them.

The arrow thing I'd have to go look at mine

I’m not totally sure what to call that thing the arrow is pointing at but the np236 has the same thing and it’s a mount for something internal. Definitely not a drain.

I have never had the chance to have never had the opportunity to have on of the later T-cases opened up; but it looks like it may be a bore for a spring and ball type detent. It is in a bad position to have anything protruding from there.

Neither my stock '98 T-case (I think it is a BW4472) nor my NP233 have that boss on the case.

Theres nothing protruding there except the bump out of the case housing.. its an indent almost like an allen socket but mine has lots of dirt in it so I was not sure...
