Mysterious Leaking along Wall

Mysterious Leaking along Wall

Postby checkthepobox [OP] » June 22nd 2020, 7:21pm

My 2001 Chevy astro with Dutch doors is leaking BAD every time it rains, but here's the thing, no water/moisture anywhere but under the carpet along the wall of the driver side opposite to the sliding door. Every long rain, my carpet gets soaked under that wall and it bleeds our a few inches to the whole carpet depending on how long/heavy the rain was. It is for sure coming from under the wall opposite to the sliding door, there is never a drop of moisture on any part of the wall only under the plastic at the bottom where the carpet is, as to say I don't think it's from the ceiling or window. Anyone else have this happen? I've heard Dutch doors always leak but the water is nowhere near them. Attaching pictures, thanks!

Pop-out window seal (on that side) might be leaking
Driver-side door seal might be leaking
Luggage rack might be leaking...
Just a few guesses

Dutch door is certainly a remote possibility too... water does tend to travel

It has rear heat. I'd check that the pipes coming up from below have something around them so water can't just spray up from the road.

I have also noticed some very localize water in that area, but have not had time to remove my interior, to try to track down the source. Mine could be from the roof rack, which I installed, I recall 'missing' one rib, so I have one support base that is not through the rib with both bolts. That could be my leak, even though I sealed it well ( I thought)
One other remote possibility... The fuel filler door is just behind that interior panel.
I guess it might be possible for water to find a way in from there.

Starting to suspect a faulty roof rack in this situation since all the AC/heat stuff hasn't worked and underspray never seems to get water in, only when I'm parked and it storms. So sick of this car lol I miss my 1989 she had no problems and this 2001 piece of bs may be more reliable but my soul isn't on it so it just feels like a damn inconvenient problem child no matter what. It's annoying because mechanically the whole thing is done up and new and clean but cosmetically it just a stupid passenger van that leaks and "no one knows why" I take it too. I'd trade it so fast for an older van. Things like this drive me crazy. Today too one side of the lock just stopped working on the Dutch door and dented the hell out of it trying to fix it now the van feels like trash to me.

Consider the direction and angle that you park.
Water runs downhill.
If it's coming from the roof rack.. then it may not matter much
