Another Dutch door button issue

Another Dutch door button issue

Postby Wokka [OP] » August 1st 2020, 10:36am

I know its been covered, but I couldn't find the reference I was after, and there has been additional shenanigans by the previous owner.

Not sure what all this extra stuff is in there for, alarm, temp fix that became permanent, who knows.

Anywho, has anyone got a happy snap of the stock wiring behind the trim panel?

The button intermittently works, i will properly terminate and heatshrink everything once i have it working but would prefer to toss any extra wires than leave a rats nest. (That one black wire hanging down runs to the top of the rear window where it was just left cut)

Looking over it again, it looks like it was an attempt at an interior release button for the hatch. The black wire runs to a 30a relay which splices into the wiring.

Still no closer to the intermittent problem. The button works once in 10 presses or so. Ill try to give it a good clean hoping its a bad contact

Excuse the gratuitous camel toe shot, I've found the issue. It seems the physical button doesn't have enough "throw" to engage the electrics. A screwdriver pushing down on this opens it 10/10 times.

Now I've found the problem, i need to find the solution

I went simple, just dropped a 2mm piece of plastic I trimmed off a window shim, works 10/10
