Nice informative post!
I have yet to determine what my rear has, I only have Rear Fan control on the dash. I'm hoping it controls whatever is on in the front to the rear, but it's a toss up...

Rear Fan? Someone else on here had just a rear fan switch...I don’t remember what we decided.

It’s easy, though: do you have a row of vents over the rear doors, or do you have vents and slots in the driver’s side interior panel next to the 2nd and 3rd row seats?

I'll have to dig around a bit more in the back, I have what looks like may be a rear heater core by the driver side rear door. I've noticed vents but not like typical rear AC vents.
Who knows what the company did that did the conversion on my van, I'll have to see if I can figure out who dunnit, and hopefully find more on what they did.

Never seen any difference in front or RR heat or air whether it is a conversion or not - the upfitter would have ordered it that way. Checking the box for RR A/C or Heat along w/ the Std. upfitter code - plain jane/naked van.

Also - one very important diff... maybe... Gen I & II Info might be diff.

Many conversion companies installed aftermarket rear AC. Unsure about rear heat, though.

Behind the drivers side seat, on the higher end models, is the heater core n blower... The intake n discharge vents for the heater... Usually theres a seperate fan speed switch for the heater system, from my experience

Now, really, NEVER thought about that ( aftermarket A/C ).
Did they also do their own ductwork ? - here again, Gen I and II are vastly different.

Re: Rear AC schematics

Postby sixsix » August 28th 2020, 10:41pm

I remember now what I was going to ask the other day - What year or Vin is this RR AC Schematics Set for ?

Here are a Few Fun Facts about The Van Air Conditioning / Climate Control - Gen I - '92 Astro LT w/ Rear A/C:

- The way the RR AC and Heat work - whatever Temp setting is up front on the Dash is what the RR will be.
- The "Rear A/C" - OFF, LO, MED & HI are Fan control only.
- If FAN OFF is Selected up front. the RR FAN still works.
- If the Front FAN does not work - The RR FAN will still work - Just found this out the other day.

At least with our Vans - we have some Control over a Climate.
Haha... imagine that - someone saying we can control the weather.
Or that humans can have some impact on "Global Climate Change" ( GCC )...
( I happen to believe in GCC - 100% - all day/all night )

Yeah, it's gonna' change... now whatareyougoingtodo?
What do we have 10 - 12 years - ala OAC
see.. you got me started

I think those are from the '03-'05 wiring and HVAC sections.
