Help! How to remove front axle seals?

Help! How to remove front axle seals?

Postby WinnieVan » April 30th 2018, 2:43am

Ya. That’s a good threads. I read it a ton when doing my front end.

Use a long pry bar to get the seals out of the diff. I tried various pullers before pulling out my 20 inch pry bar... wish I just started there in the first place!

Thanks CFM for that one.

hello!
dealing with a leaky axle seal on my 2003 AWD right side. before unbolting the upper ball joint, does the torsion bar need to be unloaded?

new plate and seal arrive from ebay, $36. they claim to be OEM.

not bad at all...you don’t need the slide hammer puller as mentioned in other posts. i rented it from laps and it stayed in the case, gentle prying worked just fine. used a bearing press rigged to the end of a pipe to drive the new seal in place. an extra set of hands would have been nice while driving/aligning the cv shaft back in place over the axle. overcoming the C clip on the shaft was a bit of a bear by myself. otherwise all good.
