Most everyone here has seen this Avatar.

I am 67 years old and I always welcome challenges ...
- to test and help move my old brain cells and stuff along upstairs.
Older Americans can always benefit from mental challenges.

And this is a Challenge with some meaning.
I hope to solve it by Election Poll closing time in KY.

AstroWill may be making a statement or maybe it is private, I do not know or care.
but... I am curious what he is saying with the Avatar - I can just imagine... ( yeah, right )

I am making it a project for myself ( and maybe the Forum ) to translate the Asian / gangi / Korean / Nippon characters to find out what AstroWill is saying.

But... I am curious - so I am attempting to find out what he is saying.
Should be comfortable in his own skin to say in English and use that for an Avatar.
Worse - he will reveal just as we're trying and finishing our research/guesses.

What Fun!

Here it is 2x size and the progress I have made:

May be a project for the guys at UC's DAAP Center / our son's work.
I don't get along w/ his Chinese best friend, but he owes me one...

I want/would rather to solve it w/o the heathen's help.

Can anyone help?

not sure if this would help but google has an app to translate different languages? I use it when I am looking at stuff for sale online such as facebook marketplace and craigslist when the ad is in another language other then English.

I asked my Chinese friend and he said (word for word):

"It makes no sense, but it says 'truths upper fly' or 'fly on top of truth'. Looks like a bad translation happening."

Yeah, I am anecdotally getting some of the same from "around the bend".
There are some good? translators , but you have to "Draw then in and in the right stroke academics".

Have to thank Will for the fine exercise. Thank You, Will.

Re: Very Interesting Avatar Puzzle

Postby sixsix [OP] » November 2nd 2020, 8:49pm

Seems I posted this Topic in Uncategorized - so it would appear in Active Topics and since it was about a Van owner / member / common interest? - that it would be justified.

OK - so not. Fine - a six year member does not get this foolish break? No? OK.
Dang
xtra, xtra, read all about it - oldster going on 68 ( 18 days away ) gets his blood red wrists slapped . . .

So - back on the last 2 ( or maybe 1 char ). I have to admit - this has me working harder than I thought I would.
Either I am a dunce or Will is crack wizardly... prolly not.
comments?

But it has been fun drawing characters and seeing the outcome. Check this interesting Translator:
https://www.mdbg.net/chinese/dictionary?page=chardict

Click on the paint brush, make a stroke - see what it says.
The things I draw and the stuff it says I am saying is quite amusing.

Kinda' like watching Shogun w/ 3d glasses and translating headphones.

A side story, but an Interesting one: " A Handful of China "

One of the Machine Tool Seminars I taught while working for Cincinnati Milacron ( I worked there when The Van was built ) ...
- was to 5 fellows from Xian, China - May/June 1989. It was a 3-4 week seminar - Jeannie and I had them for a week.
And I taught/presented a 3 week intro to Mach. Tools, CMI, America - well, to say the least - it was eventful...

Not sure if there is any interest here, but, what the heck.

You may recall the "Clay Army" they found on one of my guys' farm...
Then there is "The Gold Story"
Check that date - recall the revolution/guy in front of a tank ...
- there was a CCP guy in the group - "Charlie" and their USA names - funny
The "Our House" tour
The letters we rec'd from the guys, now with money...
- asking for asylum or sponsorship.

Anyone have a friend that can look at this: Maybe it is 1 or 2 chars

I just can't string the quote or saying together.
No luck getting in touch w/ references or "phone a friend".

Got any friends to help? I was going to ask Donald, but he was a bit busy...

I think Will just killed a really big fly with a newspaper, it reads: [large] super fly on truth [paper] descriptor, the swoop is an action, it was flying over his head, maybe angered or irritated, it actually takes 30 seconds to recite, it's more like a childrens' nursery rhyme and the part the translators can't tell you is the lyrical part, think something like a tiger dancing on hind legs, swatting at a fly, a very large fly, with a newspaper in a very practiced ancient custom dance, when truth or the rolled paper, maybe just truth on a washi or shoji roll, printed truth, irritated large fly, big truth, maybe no tiger, yes tiger is out, so is paper roll we're back to fly on truth maybe he reversed the image before posting it, so we got bury the lies, yes that's it, so ancient dance is back on, lies, bury, flies, tiger again? wait... flip it upside down; paper on fly, that's what I said in the first place, FLYPAPER it's just an upside down pic of Chinese flypaper label, you're welcome

lol Will is being nice.
It's something to do with technical electriconic management, truth management of small electronics, management assistance of technical sense, because it's traditional Chinese word origins with identifiers, then you have to read it backward or right to left; electronic/electricity, small, top place or internet, of management knowledge. The gist is there, the translation is in his technical director administrator, but I can't actually translate it, it's Will astrosafari encyclopedia admin lol
Guys, ask your translator friends with all that in consideration ;)
