G'day from a new owner in Canada

G'day everyone,

Been lurking this forum for a while trying to learn different bits and pieces in anticipation of hopefully being able to pick up a Safari/Astro for some adventuring around Canada (hopefully) before I have to head back home to Australia. The other day I managed to pick up what I think was a pretty good deal, and even if it wasn't I'm bloody stoked. I think these vans are awesome and I really wish we could get them back home.

99 GMC Safari with 186K (KMs) on the clock for 3.7K Canadian. Seems to be in really good nick from what I can tell. I'm not 100% sure on the trim but I think it's a cargo. It's parked elsewhere right now (waiting for a bloody parking permit) and I forgot to grab the books and what not out of it.

Nope, that’s a passenger van. Cargos don’t have the fixed windows in the back sections, nor do they have the pop-out window behind the driver. Window on the slider was an option.

So someone converted it. It’s a sweet Safari; I loved my ‘99 AWD Safari, but it was not well-taken care of before I got it.

Thanks for the information mate. I was having a hard time narrowing it down based on the trim information I was finding on the Internet and it having the LS badge on the side, which I understood was normally on the Astros? Any who, I'll get to the bottom of it soon

I'd love it if it were an AWD but concessions must be made somewhere

Haha, more than happy to be corrected about my incorrect assumption. Only reason I assumed it may have been a cargo was because all the information I could find about base trims apparently included electrics (such as power windows) that mine doesn't have. Ah well, I was just stoked to pick one up that wasn't completely buggered by rust

I blocked out the plates because a lot of cars I've seen for sale in Canada (Ontario at least) have them blocked out. Maybe these Canadians know something I don't
