Old gear shifter VS new gear shifter

Hi everybody,

Is it possible to swap the steering wheel and gear shifter from a 1995 (old model) with a steering wheel and gear shifter from a 1996 or newer (newer model)? Without the Tow/Haul funktion.

One is mechanical linkage the other is a cable.

But with a cutting torch and welder and a small group of dedicated people anything is possible.

You also might have issues with the airbag, it might have different connectors, sensors, etc, as the interior changed over between 95 & 96.

I think 96-98 didn't have the tow button. I think it was the 99 model that changed the transfer case from the Borg Warner to the New Process. I know my 97 doesn't have the tow button.
