probably could have saved a lot of time in the redesign if I just threw some sand in the unit bearing!! Ha!

New prototype is off to the machine shop on Monday. Hopefully have it in hand end of the week.

Welp -- just heard back from the shop -- prototype ETA is March-17.

They had a huge expedited job come in and their press brakes are going to be busy for awhile!

The turn-around after that will be quick for a proof of concept and then I'm hoping about another ~month for a batch of 10.

So I'd say mid-April early May for release. Later than I'd like -- but should align pretty nicely with the next batch of people building Astros for their summer/Fall camping plans!

Stay tuned -- apologies for the delay!!

Hey AstroSurf -- no runs been done yet -- just did the single prototype.

Testing of V2 should be very, very fast as everything is designed for minimal manual labor on the back end -- it came at the additional expense of more cut-n-formed parts -- but it will be much more scalable for future runs....

Stay tuned... you all will be the first to know.

Hey WinnieVan, how did your offset bearing turn out?
Did you mount your seat and see how good the spin around will be yet?
A guy on FB was looking for a swivel for his paralyzed wife and I suggested that he look up your thread.
Then someone else chimed in that you'd have to open door and move seat back & forth.
Like it may be too much for someone to do without getting out of the seat.
I know that you for sure were shooting for not opening the door.
Just wondered what the prototype is looking like for somebody to spin around while seated?
She may load up from the side door or rear, I just know he said it would make life easier.
Cup holders / glove box is already removed and prolly would be for anybody who's already winging it.
Handicapped is a whole other selling point and they among others don't mind if the seat ends up further back.
I'm Deaf - I can say handicapped and still be politically correct, I think.
Edit: I saw that you responded/offered help to the OP on FB now, Thank you Sir.

Interesting application... you will be able to swivel the seat with the door closed... but may need to move the seat back and forth to get in the correct position.

I'm not sure it can be done in every position on the rails -- but I will definitely check the limits when I get it installed in my van.

I *should* have the unit in hand tomorrow -- but the shop said Monday if not tomorrow. I really hope I get it before the weekend.

Stay tuned..

And we're off.... you're looking at the very first Ironcloud Metalworks seat swivel ever produced.

V2 design works perfectly. Very happy with the lock and the addition of the threaded "auxiliary" lock gives you a zero slop configuration in the forward position! The threaded "auxiliary" lock will be much shorter in the final design --- but you should get the picture!!

For the first batch of 10 -- I'm going to price at $349 + shipping or local pickup in Salem, OR. The final units will be powder coated in black semi-gloss for a super clean and professional finish.

I'm going to start a new thread in classifieds with details, pricing, etc. to keep things a bit more streamlined since this thread has a more of a "build" thread feel to it!! I need to get some pictures/videos of it in the van -- so expect more information on Wednesday when I get my van back in my possession!

If you want to get your hat in the ring sooner -- send me a PM! A few are already claimed so let me know so I can add you to the list.

Thanks everyone for the interest -- I've enjoyed this build a lot and I'm looking forward to seeing these in YOUR AstroSafari van!!

According to WinnieVan, just now:
The bases may not be done for a while yet, but I am considering a drive to Salem, to pick up my swivel seat base, when they are ready.
If anybody else along the route wants to meet me, for hand-off, I would be happy to bring more units North toward Portland and Seattle.
You would have to have the finances done directly with WinnieVan. I would just be transporting them.

Congrats, WV, for getting the thing through to production. The hexagonal instead of round lightening holes are particularly cool.

Price did that - ;) ;) LOL
Nice!! What great stuff from your Imagination / this Forum. The other accessories are just icing on the Cake!

And I have to wonder what the same unit / identical would cost to produce here in rather inexpensive Greater Cinti / "Land of Machining & Fab".
Even after R&R / Prototyping costs.

Well...
But... it's NOT HERE, Winnie's got 'em and they won't last long.
