isnt there a bolt in 2 speed transfercase upgrade?

Hi there,
i'm more into jeep than i am these vans, but as my jeep has now become a little too wild for regular usage, i tend to use the van for poor weather, and although I am thrilled (seriously, i can drive though about 2 feet of snow no problem, and it's very stable) i was wondering about this upgrade (mainly to get the 4 low). Can't we just swap in one of the electronic transfercases from a Blazer? i've done a bit of searching and i'm still a little lost.

I don't mind shortening the drive shafts, but shouldn't in input splines be the same, etc?

It's a direct fit. The real work is putting in the system that disconnects the front axle. You don't have to, but you lose your shift on the fly capability. I have a 4wd transfer case in my van. The real issue is the front drive shaft, whether it's a splined shaft or bolt on style, that's the only major mechanical thing I saw that would be a fitment issue. Beyond that, it's a matter of 3 or 4 button style. 3 button is easy for wiring, but the 4 button style would probably require extra work to figure out the auto 4wd mode...you'd have to have a 99 or newer AWD van in order to have the sensors required to make it work AFAIK.

I don't have anything beyond basic wrenching skills, and I just put a np233 case from a 2000 Blazer into my 04 Safari, and it really did just bolt in, no driveshaft mods or anything else - speedo works, no CEL etc. I haven't wired it up yet, but will soon, the info is online from folks who've done it before..... I haven't seen yet where anybody documented a swap of the np236 case, which is the 4 button kind, though many have talked about how cool it would be. Also a number of folks have converted the np233 to manual shift, but that requires some fabbing skills as there isn't a bolt in way to do that part, far as I know....

That said, I have seen where some folks have had to notch crossmember to fit the front driveshaft.... And all bets are off if you try to swap in the manual shift np241 case, which works for older Astros, but not for later vans....

The 233 is direct fit for my 03. And it works great.

Is this the same for the Borg Warner in a 1995?
