brake resevoir diaphram

Well with my recent brake problem which seems to have rectified itself... I checked my fluid today and found that one side of the diapham was sucked into the reservoir and has been distorted and one half is now bigger and is a pain to get it to fit right .
Ill post a pic tomorrow.. just wondering anyone else had this happen? Causes?

Is it swollen or just twisted? I have seen brake systems screwed up by someone adding incorrect fluid. If it's swollen you need to check the entire system. You'll possibly have rubber seals in calipers and cylinders swollen too.

Mine's always been that way. Diaphragm is distorted and sunken into the reservoir.

I suppose I should consider replacing it. But the van stops when I push on the "Don't Go" pedal.

Doctor told me years ago that one was usually bigger...and one usually hung lower. Try BOXERS if you're still uncomfortable with this. Hope this helps...snicker.

Heads up, FYI:

Whatever the brake system "rubber" components are actually made of, it seems that any other

fluid mixed into the DOT 3 brake fluid will cause those parts to swell. It is called contamination,

and gives immediate cause for concern. The only cure for swollen parts is the replacement of

them, and a flushing of the liquid in the system. Don't fool with suspect contamination, it can be

deadly. (I can't stress this too much.)
