Cruise control sticking

Cruise control sticking

Postby smokinjoe [OP] » June 28th 2020, 7:16pm

So recently on my 02 LS rwd with 230k miles I have noticed the cruise control is holding on after a highway stint. Meaning the motor keeps revving unless I open the hood and move the cable around from the cruise control.
Is there anything to look at / check/ lube or do I just look for a cruise box.?

Thanks folks.

Re: Cruise control sticking

my van doesn't have cruise control but i'm planning a steering column swap & installing the factory cruise setup, so i'll be following along here to see what's wrong on your van. pressing the brake pedal should be cancelling the cruise setting electrically. the underhood mechanical part is sort of like a bicycle cable hooked to a stanley tape measure. if anything kinked or pinched the cable housing to the point where the throttle spring can't pull itself shut it would stick. the underhood cruise box with cable assembly is $15.00 at the JY's here in denver. sorry i can't help more.
