AC compressor cycles on and off every 5 seconds or so

Hello folks:).

The van just started doing this and I don't know anything about AC.

It was blowing cold, but I'm not sure it is anymore.

I hurt my back and I'm not sure I want to mess with it, but I'm worried if I take it to a shop they will charge me a lot just to diagnose it.

So I'm hoping one of you might know what's going on and that might help me figure out what it would cost to fix, and whether it's worth it.

The van has rear AC, too, in case that matters.I hear the cycling on and off when I have just the front AC on. I don't hear it when the rear AC is on, but that blower is pretty loud so it could be happening and I'm not hearing it.

Thank you both so much! Told ya I don't know anything about AC :).

I am now busily reading old threads to see if I can recharge it. It's been 7 years since I last used the AC (I live in a cool climate), so I'm guessing it doesn't have a significant leak that I need to address.

PS, I am one of those long time listener, first-time caller types :). I don't know enough to contribute usefully to threads, but I have gotten so much wonderful help here over the years, just readling.
