I have a few things to say about this-

1. They will come up with ANYTHING for a story.

2. Vans were meant to haul cargo, not people.

3. I think that EVERY car has some sort design flaw that will result in casualties if the crash comes from the right direction.

4. IIS has actually admitted on one of their reports that Astro/Safari vans have the lowest incidents of fatal and severe injury related accidents..meaning that statistics show that Astrosafarians don't crash as often as soccer moms.

Yeah.. but I'd rather take my chances with a van that I like than to drive a supposed "safe car" that is ugly, dull, and boring only to get splattered against the jersey wall like a fly when a tractor-trailer goes out of control.

Oh sure Ted...
That's why we drive what we do.
You have to admit though, the vid was pretty chilling.
To lose 15 inches of floor space, where my big ole clod hoppers barely fit...

But that's assuming that you get into a car accident in the IIS lab. Also, this suggests that you'll be sitting there strapped to your seat as you calmly wait for the impact to take place. Most times people will prepare themselves for the impact and survive unscathed as a result of it.

I''ll take out the car next to me or try to go somewhere else before I just let myself nose dive into something. Yeah, I noticed that dummy just sat there! what a dummy.

And another thing to take into consideration-

The vans in this test were being pulled by a chain. Ever pull on a phone cord to free it from an entangled bundle of wires only to discover that you broke the tab off in the process? I believe that our vans don't crumple up that way when the driver is on the brakes skidding into the car in front of him or into a telephone pole. Pulling an Astro into a wall is a whole different story. I've seen several wrecked A/S vans in the junkyard but none of them with a collapsed floor.
