Four quarts should be the right amount. Find out for sure where your level is at. I would not recommend starting the van with a line disconnected. I put drain plugs in my pans

Leave it to freight on the bay
Disposable pump. Simpler than buying a real pump then cleaning it and storing it somewhere where the oil won't turn to gummy sludge. When you need to use one again in three years, buy another disposable one.

Most of my Freight by the Bay stuff I deal with that way. Just bought a $25 hammer drill. It's drilled six holes in concrete. With every new hole the cost per hole goes down. When it dies I will have spent something less than $4 per hole, conceivably much less.

The store I love to hate. At 20% off.

AFTER you check a HOT fluid level reading and make sure you are indeed overfull , you can remove the TOP transmission line from the radiator and insert this fitting into radiator and attach rubber hose line and put into a jug and bump over the engine , DO NOT let run for more than a few seconds and you can pump out excess fluid , it comes out fast so it does not take but a few seconds to pump out a quart , then reconnect the trans line to radiator .

If you have an external trans fluid cooler installed you can drain excess fluid from the hose that is attached to it

Let us hope BoB does not hear of this disposable tool talk. After dropping a brand new impact driver(300 dollars) from 40 feet I elected never to take any tool over 99 dollars into the air ever again.
