Yes you definitely are in need of a pin and bushing kit.
The roller is broken.
We used to call them stop dog/hinge stop rollers.

I hit up all my moving parts every now and then with WD-40
It works. I don't make things complicated
There are other solutions too

 

You got it.
Neverseize the hell out of the pins when you install them, as well as the roller.
You can use wheel bearing grease too, whichever you have.

The hard part will be dealing with that coil spring. It provides the tension on the roller. You will find it very 'stout'.

Yes, they come in VERY handy.
Saves knuckles and lots of cursing.

 

Doing those hinges are SO WORTH IT, buttery smooth like the doors were originally.

So many people neglect them, door sagging, hard to close, slam it, keep wearing everything on the latch, bend their outside handles because now it's hard to open... well worth replacing.
