I'm in need of some advice on what I should do with my Astro.
I was given my grandfathers 2001 Chevy Astro van about a year ago. It had 76k original miles. When I got the van it had some serious rust on the front subframe. It's gotten so bad now that the steering box is coming off. It obviously won't pass inspection. I'd like to do everything I can to either revive it or keep it going. It's incredibly clean except for the rust on the front end. No body rust at all. I live in the north east and it was parked by the ocean it's whole life. It's very sentimental to not just me, but my whole family. I'm willing to put some money into it if I have too.
I started looking into what I could do to fix it. I found that the front subframes come out somewhat easily. I was wondering if I could have that swapped out with a donor van? Not sure how pricey that gets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
