Is it possible to add a hard drive to my Cd player?
I would like to record my cd's to a hard drive if possible.

I looked into that a while back and to answer you bluntly NO simply because the hard drive is to big for the stereo to manipulate and to power it. A hard drive has sections and files and the stereo is not designed to navigate the hard drive. Best bet is to buy an older Ipod and load it with music and that will hold tons of music depending on how much the Ipod is designed to hold. But they sell 2 gig all the way to 26 gig and maybe even more.

A standard hdd wouldn't last in a car because it's not designed for the environment. They don't like to get jarred. You'd want a solid state drive if you did, but for what it's worth, a new stereo that plays files from a USB port would be about the same price with less hassle. As far as putting files onto media from your cd's, just about any computer newer than winxp can do that natively.

ALPINE head unit here, paid shy under $100 coins new from Buy best over a year ago. AM/FM,Bluetooth, front USB port and regular aux jack.
On rear of unit, RCA input, USB port and another aux jack. No cd player in this particular unit ( have not used one in years anyways)
Running all media from cell phone, tablet or if needed just plug flashdrive on the USB, Pain in the butt if you have more than 10 folders in it so I just use the port to charge devices.
Total cost of the set up is under $150 coins with the Dash mount kit, wiring harness and antenna plug, takes like 1 hour DIY with simple tools and the sound difference is very noticeable, highly recommended.

Well,,,I ripped(via freerip) three cds to three separate folders(generated by rip program),on my desk top.
Then I "moved" the files to the flash drive.
This morning I plugged the fm transmitter into the lighter socket.
The unit powered up/flash drive flashed/radio received signal(silence vs static).
The transmitter unit displays "In" . NOTHING!
Did I mess up by transferring the ripped files in folders? :think

No nothing is wrong. Put the music back into the computer from the flash drive.
My FM Tranmitter has to be plugged into the computer and the files placed on the storage through it or it cant find the songs. I use a SD Card tho.
If I place the music on the card from the computer it cant find the music.

True, what Chevymaher said... however looking at the model it might not have enough of juice to run the stick itself or capabilities of playing, description shows its compatible with iPad and iPhone or any other MP3 devices; which might be that these devices do the playing and powering, etc.. your FM transmitter plugged into the Cig lighter might have enough function to just accept what the MP3 device sends and transmit over FM waves. Another thing might be, maybe your USB Flash disk drive is USB 3.0 and not 2.0, or vise versa.

Do "they" make a fm transmitter that pig tails into the antenna wire?
I really do not want to change out the radio.
No you just plug it in the cigarette lighter.
Tune the radio to its station.
Done music plays from the radio.

It has a way to select where it broadcast so that it is a empty station in your area.
I got one in my durango. Had one in the van before I got the new stereo. They work well. I got my first one off of E Bay. The durbangoes I got from pep boys for 25 bucks or some such non-sense.

I haven't used one, a quick search online I found this:

LINK on Amazon, only $24.12

Looks like you plug this inbetween your antenna and your radio, all you would need is a RCA plug to mini plug adaptor to go to your device. You might need an adaptor if the antenna size doesn't match your antenna connector. As I said, I just did a quick search, I don't have this, but I am interested in a product like this for my basic radio. I don't want an aftermarket radio, as someone may will break my window to grab a non-stock stereo.

Also, once you're on that Amazon page, I'm sure there will be other examples to check out too.
