Ok so pretty much i've had several problems in the past with my turn signal switch. The first time i took off steering wheel and everything cleaned the contacts and then the lever broke on me once. I replaced it and it worked fine. 2 years later i'm driving on freeway i turn signal to the left and it feels a bit loose its not doing the click sound. so next time i make a left i push it hard downward and i feel like something broke. lol ughhh it's the 2nd time i do this but this time the "lever" that includes cruise control and wipers/washer works fine only thing is that the the "lever" holds on to "this component part i don't have a name for it" i don't know what it's called but when i push it up or down it doesn't click. I think i broke it. :/ is there a way to replace it without removing the front part of the steering wheel? lol also what's that particular part where the lever connects to.. it has a hole in it so u can manually put the lever inside.. this component moves up and down.. anyways anyone with some knowledge i would greatly appreciate it. thanks! :)

I just had mine apart and there are some small parts that are a pain in the arse. It sounds to me like you need to replace the switch assembly inside. if you took it apart far enough to have to remove the plate and snap ring then you see the assembly that has wiring that runs down the column. I have no idea how you fish the new wiring down though. I will have to do this eventually too since my directional clicks for right turn but not for the left. I found a site with a blow up of the column if you need it I probably have it somewhere. Mark

Oh believe i've taken the steering column apart several times. Lol Not my first rodeo!! I was hoping there was a shortcut though. Lmao..... At one point I installed the whole steering wheel and forgot to put the little plastic for the horn and oh boy was i screaming. Lol At another time I installed everthing correctly except i forgot to put the plastic piece that is used for the long beams so took the whole thing apart and did it again.. I'm having ahard time finding the turn signal switch most of them come with the "red square" hazards on top. I can't seem to find without. I wonder if i just take the "red box" off it would still work. If u do have those pics send them my way they might come in handy. :)

Do your work organized. Put all the parts in a small bucket so you can't miss re-installing them.

I actually changed the turn signal lever on mine without ripping the column apart you just have to remove the top and bottom plastic cover then you can turn the steering wheel to get at 3 torque screws that hold it on the wiring harness runs down the outside of the column and plugs into the harness under the steering column

hmmm interesting... also i noticed these turn signal kits have that "RED SQUARE HAZARD" my 1993 astro van doesn't have it, so it's been hard for me to find one. Any idea where i can get one for a 1993 astro van? i don't know the exact name for it. Also, i might have to take everyything apart because the lever that moves the turn signal up and down broke as well. I might have to go to a junk yard and get that small particular small part. :/

OK, I'm a GEN3 guy, so this is all foreign to me. HOWEVER, a quick search through Amazon and I found the following...
PLEASE NOTE- I have no idea if this is right, compare to what you have. Maybe a GEN1 fan can please fact check me here?

Wiper/ multi-function switch (what the wiper lever goes into): Be sure to order the right one, they are different for tilt steering, etc.

Turn signal switch (should work in tandem with wiper switch/ lever): Not sure if you need this but in case you do...

Multi function lever: Again, check the options, make sure they match up with what you have, like cruise control, int wiper, etc.

The really funny thing here is... I used most of the exact same parts to rebuild the column in my '92 Jeep Wrangler... Gotta love AMC/ Crapsler huh. It was easy to tear down and reassemble, very straight forward I thought. Give it a shot, what the hell haha.
