Yes, and on the other side of the throttle body there should be a threaded post that the wingnut screws the hat down tight to. That orange gasket is part of the hat, not the throttle body, btw.
I got the plastic wingnut, now all I need is the O-ring seal. Is it available separately from Chevrolet? Or does it only come with the plastic part?

To be honest, I just don't know. I've never had to replace that gasket...

I think the oval one in this set is the right one (you make it round):

Nope, that's the throttle body, upper plenum and fuel injection gasket set. The Air hat gasket is part of the Hat from what I've found, and it isn't cheap from the dealer either...better off sourcing one from the JY.

I still haven't gotten a seal or replacement induction air duct, but I have got a GM part number for the duct: 25161688 and the official designation for it is: Adapter, Air Cleaner Intake. The seal is not listed by itself, I assume it only comes with the duct. The part is only used on Astrofaris, years 1996-2005. List price is about $120 !!! No way I'm buying a new one...

I've started volunteering at a museum and consequently I have a lot less time now, but I'll make time to take care of it after New Years...

I went to my local neighborhood junque emporium today, and out of about 12-13 Astrofaris (I looked at every one!) only one had the 'Adapter, Air Cleaner Intake', so I bought it and the rubber coupler that connects to the MAF sensor. Ten bucks it costs, beats hell out of $120! When I got home I cleaned it all up and put it on my Astro. It fits a little tighter, though not much. I'll have to run it a few days to see if it's generating any error code -- with the old one I was occasionally getting a P0101 (I don't know that's the cause, but I thought it may be leaking air since it was loose). The Astro only generated the P0101 when running at freeway speeds, around town it was fine, and if I ran it a few days around town it would clear the P0101 all by itself.

Anyway, I'll see if it's still generating the P0101 and if it is I'll see if I can diagnose the MAF and the TPS. I'm pretty sure I've taken care of all the vacuum leaks...

What about using an old bicycle inter tube to better seal it???

Just a thought, :2:

That would probably be too thick. I'm thinking of trying to get the seal off in one piece and soaking it in something to make it swell a little, paint thinner maybe, acetone?

Hello astro pop i know this is a forum from a few years back but i was wondering if you still had the spare air intake duct that you showed in the pictures ive been looking for one and havent been able to find it i would appreciate if ud sell it thanks

I have a huge vacuum leak between the air duct "saddle" and the throttle body. No gasket is sold for the space in between. I bought GM #217-1592 which does fit but is too thick. The "saddle" duct would not fit over. The gasket diameter is 3.9 inches and it stretches a bit to fit, anyone know of an alternative?

Final resort would be O2 Sensor safe Gasket maker.

They make o-rings that diameter, or you can super glue some together and make your own.
